Marine Team winter projects

Our boatyard and Marine Team have been very busy throughout the winter working on a number of projects. Our comprehensive boatyard and service workshops allow us to work all year round, so when you are relaxing over the winter our yard is alive with activity.

The following is a taster of what we’ve been up to.

Altricia 1965 McGruer boatAltricia: 1965 McGruer, a beautiful classic racing boat undergoing an extensive refit project. We have recently put in a new teak deck fitted by our master shipwrights Chris Oliver and Reed Downing. We’re also changing her to wheel steering, fitting new windows, hatches, deck gear and starting to fit new electrics throughout and new electronic systems. New water and fuel tanks have been fitted in the boat this week. We’ve extended her coach roof and modified the shape of the forward end, we’ve also fitted new cockpit coamings and winch pads around the cockpit. We’re looking forward to launching her in the early summer.

Fidelis 1930's Edwardian CutterFidelis: 1930’s Edwardian Cutter, classic wooden boat. We’ve recently burnt back below her waterline to bare wood, let her dry out a bit and then coated up from there. Using custom off-white paint (Epifanes) on the topsides and varnish on the toe rails and covering boards.
The work was completed by our painter ‘Beefy’ who has a fantastic reputation as an expert craftsman when it comes to paint work.
